Grosso Quarry

Mining began at the Grosso Collabar Road site as early as the 1950s. The site was acquired by local farmer and excavation contractor Al Grosso in January 1973. With initial ambitions to produce its own materials for various projects, the focus shifted by the late 1970s to solely operating the quarry as a supplier of heavy building materials. This strategic pivot laid the groundwork for significant growth and development. During the construction boom of 2000, the facility underwent substantial modifications; the original plant location was moved within the property to accommodate an expansion, enabling the production of 10 different processed aggregate products. This expansion marked a pivotal evolution for the facility, positioning it as a key player in the regional building materials market.

In October 2023, Nick Fitzpatrick acquired the facility, adding this strategically located large reserve to the Aden Mining & Materials locations. Now part of Aden, the mine is poised to continue its legacy as a producer of high-quality aggregates long into the future.
